Tot School: letter Q

Luv Bug is 37 months old
Tot School

Letter q is a hard letter to do by theme. Thank goodness for the moms and teachers who share their creations with others. We just chose our favorite Q ideas and ended up having a very fun week.

Luv Bug had 5 trays this week:
Luv Bug and I love to collect things while on walks, to explore later. I put some of these on a tray with her Melissa and Doug magnifying glass. I'm going to do this more often. I'd love to have one tray devoted to 'science' each week.

 Pom poms in egg tray
She only tried the tongs once, then switched to her hands. She's not to fond of tweezers or tongs. Not sure why.
Luv Bug decided to combine some of her trays.

Magnetic pom poms with this printable from Making Learning Fun.
She still LOVES trays where she can poke things into holes or slots. I gave her some quarters and an old baby food jar with a slit cut out (filed and taped so she couldn't cut herself). She was excited to play with this and did it several times during the week.
I made a 5 by 5 grid in Word and printed several copies. I colored 'quilt' patterns on some of them and added Luv Bug's foam unit blocks(from Dollar Tree). I left one grid blank so she could create her own quilt design.

Other Q activities:
Play dough letter q mat from Homeschool Creations. We love these!

I printed this letter Qq hunt sheet here. Just click on the letter you need.
The first mini book I found at Making Learning Fun. The other was here. They have books for all the consonants.
Letter q page in the Tot Time Notebook Carisa from 1+1+1=1 created.
This quilt pattern Pattern Block card was from Confession of a Homeschooler's letter Q unit. Our pattern block set didn't have enough squares for the outer edge though.

Random pics from our week:
She asked to play with the pom poms.
My mom bought Luv Bug this awesome sticker book when Luv Bug was only 1. She can finally use it. She LOVES this book. I'm going to be looking for more.
We sometimes do calendar time if Luv Bug wants. Sometimes she has me do it with her stuffed animals. She lined up a 'class' for me one day.

Luv Bug loves books and is often sitting looking through piles of them. It's much more fun with a polar bear on your head!

This week had the perfect amount of activities. I only set things out. It's up to Luv Bug if she wants to do them. This week, she did almost everything and even asked for more. It was a very fun, relaxed week. We enjoyed a few days outside in the beautiful weather. I love being home and spending these fun days with my sweet bug.

  2. Thank you so much! It seems she prefers the natural play things too. I'm going to do these more often:)
