Toy Story theme

Luv Bug is 39 months old
Tot School

Since I've been so busy planning for Luv Bug's upcoming preschool year, I've been printing out some fun preschool packs I've found on different blogs. Luv Bug LOVES Toy Story, so this week we downloaded this Toy Story preschool pack from 1+1+1=1.  As always, I let Luv Bug choose which activities she would like to do. She really enjoyed this pack!

This was to go with the page in the next pic. I drew lines between each character so Luv Bug could cut them out.

It's hard to see, but she's using her Buzz Lightyear from her Toy Story 2 Busy Book to help her trace the letters. I forgot to take any pics of her playing with her characters. Funny, since that's what she played with most. (link for Busy Book is to Amazon but I would not pay $40. I usually get them at Barnes and Nobles or Baby Depot for about $10.)

She loves the roll and graph page. She would have kept doing this, but we stopped when one of them reached 10.

Some other Toy Story activities.

This girl loves her puzzles. Dollar Tree find.

This was part of a set of 3 that I picked up at a local discount store for $5.

Cute book with a magnetic Woody.

I made Luv Bug some Toy Story felt pieces. She played with these a lot.

I cut out a felt table and she  used the characters with the book from the preschool pack above.

This weeks trays had nothing to do with the theme, but were still quite fun:

I set out a collage tray for Luv Bug. I was so excited about this.

She loved playing with the materials, but had no interest in gluing them onto paper:(

This was how she played with it mostly.

Later in the week, I taped down a piece of clear contact paper. She did put some things on, but this just wasn't her favorite.

I put a sticker in each section of this container and gave her some of her animal counters. She figured out by herself how to sort them.

 Simple science tray.

The Dollar Tree has several Animal Planet card games.  The photos on this matching game were so adorable.

I've been wanting to try weaving with Luv Bug for awhile. I finally put a little weaving tray together.

She did pretty well for her first time.

It helps to have stuffed kitties nearby.

A little bit of random fun

I had this little area of the yard that I was going to use for a garden, but I didn't get to it in time. I let Luv Bug use it for digging. We had fun one day with mud. Messy. Wet. Fun.

Our local pool opened! We will be spending much of our summer here.

Next week we will be attending a wedding out of town, so I may just do a no theme week. We'll see. Luv Bug's in charge!

Ballerina theme

Luv Bug is 39 months old
Tot School

I've been very busy lately planning Luv Bug's 'preschool' year, so I recently printed off some preschool packs that don't require much planning from me.  Last week we chose this Ballerina Preschool Pack.
When I told Luv Bug we'd be doing a ballerina theme, she said she needed a tutu. I was way ahead of her and stayed up til 3 am one night to make one. I got the pattern  here. It wouldn't have taken so long, but Luv Bug woke up in the middle of the night and needed help falling back asleep. She tried it on for about 5 minutes, and hasn't put in on since:(  Not even for a decent photo.

Most of her trays were random as I didn't have many ballet ideas for them:
(I apologize for the glare on the pictures. I may need to invest in a new camera soon.)
I dedicated her green tray as her science tray. I've seen this idea all over the interenet and finally I put it ogether for Luv Bug. Very simple sensory bottle. Just cut up some pipe cleaners, drop them in the bottle and give the child a magnetic wand. I didn't tell her what would happen, I just let her investigate.
Later, Daddy let Luv Bug pour them out and she played with them without the bottle.

Simple tray = lots of fun. She loves when I set out stamps and mini notebooks.

I bought these awhile back from Scholastic. Luv Bug is pretty good at rhyming , so i thought she'd enjoy yhese. She did, but there were so many, she lost interest before finishing.

Really bad pic, I set out a large sheet of paper and some dance stickers from this Melissa and Doug set. She got to it before I could take a picture.

Carisa at 1+1+1=1 posted last week about these magnetic gems. I made a set that very night. Luv Bug LOVED them. She calls them her beautiful jewels. She found many ways to play with these.

We used them for a little number practice with this 1-10 sticker sheet I found at Confessions of a Homeschooler. You need to scroll down a bit to find it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All printables were from 1+1+1=1'a Ballerina Preschool Pack.

I saw this adorable craft idea at Pink and Green Mama and I knew Luv Bug would have fun making it. I drew a ballerina and let Luv Bug color it. She then glued on the cupcake wrapper. I cut it out after it dried.
I found the little princess cupcake liners at The Dollar Tree.
Luv Bug loves puzzles and does several each week. I almost forgot to pull this one out.
I found these at the Dollar Tree. The Lightning Bug one glows. Too cute.
When I worked in preschool and pre-k, I had a hard time with open ended art. usually the parents wanted something tangible to show what the kids had been working on. i finally learned to let go, and now have the opposite problem. Since we'll be doing more preschool activities with Luv Bug, I will do some crafts that have an end goal, but I still want the majority of her art to be open ended. I'd been wanting to do this awhile. I set out some different shapes of thin cardboard and some tape. I knew she'd enjoy this becasue she loves to get her hands on my tape.

She chose to wrap each piece in tape like a gift. I was surprised at her concentration and patience with this.

Another week tat flew by. I'm trying to play more with Luv Bug and spend as much time ouside as possible. With the pool opening soon, we won't be doing as much. Wishing all a fun, relaxing summer!
